What is Hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state of relaxation of the mind and body.  Hypnosis requires trust and rapport to create the results you want.  The hypnotic state, also called trance, is a state similar to that experienced just before going to sleep at night, or just before waking up in the morning.  Hypnosis, however, is not sleeping.  To use hypnosis, you must remain awake. 

 

In the hypnotic state, your critical faculty is switched off, which means that you cannot distinguish between reality and fantasy.  During this time, you are highly suggestible, which means that positive suggestions will be accepted uncritically. 

 

Each individual's experience of hypnosis is different and you are fully in control and aware at all times during hypnosis.  A person will never do something under hypnosis they don't want to do.  When you experience the wonderful sensation of being gently directed how to use your mind to create an incredible state of internal calm, you will learn just what hypnosis is, and why you can do it.
